I love reading Ginny's blog, small things, and I've always wanted to participate in her weekly Yarn Along, since two of my favorite things to do are read and knit. So while I haven't mustered up the courage to link to Ginny's blog, I'm going to write up my Yarn Along post in hopes that this will become a weekly habit.
I am currently between books (though I just picked up Jennifer Haigh's Faith from the library this morning and can't wait to start it), so I took a photo of two books I finished recently. First, I loved Rachel Simon's Riding the Bus with My Sister, so when I saw she had a new book out, I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. The Story of Beautiful Girl was a gorgeous story of how love can grow in the most difficult conditions. I'm not sure why I added Revolver to my to-read list, but it was definitely worth reading. This suspenseful novel reads like a one act play, and the end was satisfying.
As for my knitting, I have several projects on the needles, but I am focusing on finishing up my Shaelyn. My last few projects have been baby gifts, so I've been working with a lot of cotton and acrylic yarns, which can be hard on my hands, so this Malabrigo Sock yarn is like heaven. Since I am using fingering weight yarn, I am doing an extra repeat of the pattern. I can already tell this shawl will be one of my favorites. The lace is simple, but interesting, and the stockinette is so soothing.
